Syria's conflict took a new turn with Obama warning that if Bashar Al-Assad's government would deploy chemical weapons against rebels, US would have to intervene. American president also said that they were closely monitoring the situation in Syria. He was talking at White house press conference. He said that US government was observing constraint at the moment, but the view might change.
Syria government admitted in July that it would use chemical weapons in case of any external aggression. Syria has the world's fourth largest stockpile of chemical weapons.
On the other hand, some 120 people were killed yesterday in shelling in Daraa. In the 17 months of civil war, rebels, who were fighting to dethrone Assad, have got control of districts of Damscus and Aleppo. In the fighting that is taking place, some foreign journalists were also killed. Meanwhile, the UN observers left Damascus after a four month mission, as they could not do anything to stop the fighting.
