Britain Government insisted that it will definitely extradite Julian Assange, founder of wikileaks, the whistle blowing website, to Sweden. A spokesperson of the David Cameron's government said that they would talk to Ecuador government and try to find a diplomatic solution.
Assange, who is facing sexual assault charges in Sweden, has been taking refuge in Ecuador's London embassy since June. Ecuador's leftist president Rafael Correa, who is a critic of US foreign policy, granted shelter to Assange. On last Sunday, Assange, for the first time since June 19, appeared in the balcony of the embassy and gave a public statement. He asked Obama government to stop witch hunt against him. US government rebuked the allegation and said that he was trying to drive the attention away from the charges he has been facing. Meanwhile, the nations of South America pledged support to Ecuador on the Assange issue.
There are several cases against Wikileaks, which published several secret diplomatic cables, embarassing many govenments and international businesses. On the other hand, in the year of 2010, two female ex-employees of Wikileaks accused that Assange committed sexual assault on them, while he was in Stockhome to give a lecture. But Assange claimed that the sex was consensual and the allegations were politically motivated.
