India’s show at Olympics – Facts n Figures



30th Olympic Games, which were being held from 27th July, concluded yesterday. Nearly 10,500 athletes from 204 nations participated in this games. This is the third time, Great Briton hosting Olympic Games. One must congratulate the Briton government and the organizers for running the 30th session smoothly. United States of America stood at the top in the final medals tally, by winning 104(46gold, 29silver, 29bronze), followed by China, Briton and Russia. Next Olympics is going to be held at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Now, let us analyse India’s performance through the statistics.

· India’s best ever performance in Olympics

· Got 6 medals, of which, 2 are silver and 4 are bronze

· 81 players participated in 13 sports events

· India’s position is at 55th in the total medals tally

· Indian government spent a whopping Rs.226crores for Olympics

· India doubled its medals tally from 3 in Beijing to 6 in London

· For the first time, an Indian player got medals in two consecutive Olympics

· India’s Hocky team, which brought 8 medals(5gold, 2silver, 1bronze) for the nation, put a disastrous performance in this session

· Abhinav Bindra, who fetched India gold medal in Beijing Olympics, disappointed this time
